Hello guys! How is the third month of the year treating you’ll? Well mine started on such a great note!
So Vikas, Riya and I finally took a trip together; something we had been dreaming of for a long time now. As you’ll already know from my Instagram and Snapchat posts, we visited the lovely City of Udaipur. Always wanting to visit Rajasthan, we were really excited for this one! It was a short weekend getaway, leaving all the work back at home.
Day 1 -
Being the planners, Vikas and Riya had the whole trip chalked out. We left Bombay on an early morning flight wanting to utilize three whole days. Well, surprising as it may sound, we were welcomed in Udaipur by the really cool weather as it had just rained in a few areas. The drive from the airport to the old city (where we were staying) was a rough 45 minute long. The journey was lovely as we got to witness the sunrise and we soon arrived to our destination, Gangaur Ghat at the lovely Lake Pichola. Our hotel, Lake Pichola Haveli was right in the heart of the old City. The beautiful local architecture & lovely narrow lanes were just what we wanted to experience. We checked into our hotel and were way too happy with our room having such amazing spaces and details, and of course the breathtaking view of the Ghat and the lake! We then checked out the view from the roof top and were mesmerized! After freshening up, we started our expedition with a plan to cover the far off places on Day 1.
We spent some time at this cute German Café besides our hotel and headed to our first stop which was the Sajjan Garh Palace also known as the Monsoon Palace. This is a hilltop palatial residence, overlooking the Fateh Sagar Lake. The ride up to this place and the view from the top was just beautiful. We spent a nice hour or more at this place enjoying the breathtaking view.
We then went ahead to visit two more places, Saheliyon Ki Bari and Shilpagram. The garden of Maiden is set below the embankment of the Fateh Sagar Lake having beautiful lotus pools, marble pavilions and elephant - shaped fountains. Apparently this place has a history to it; but sadly we aren’t the kind of people to be interested in the stories. We would rather enjoy the beautiful spaces and its feel. Yes people from the architecture field I tell you, Ha-ha!
Shilpagram is a rural arts and crafts complex and is conceived as a living ethnographic museum to depict the lifestyles of the folk and tribal people of the region. We witnessed a performance by the local people here and then went ahead for lunch as we were dying of hunger!
We headed back to the vicinity of our hotel and had a really heavy lunch at this cute Café restaurant called O-zen in the market area; obviously had to take a nap after that!! Ha-ha! The evening was spent strolling around in the neighboring market and at the Gangaur Ghat by the lake, followed by dinner at the roof top. Some music, food, good company and the cool breeze in my hair, was the best way to end my long day.

Day 2 -
Started our day with breakfast and the beautiful lakeside view ofcourse, we went ahead to visit the most famous place in the city, The City Palace!! Well this place I tell you is so huge and equally beautiful ofcourse. I wore this dress by Vastra whose earthy tones went so well with the structure. This place had so many exhibits, amazing spaces and vistas. Spent hours at this place leaving us tired and hungry! We had our lunch at a café in the Palace complex itself and then went ahead to visit the Sunset point at the Machalla Hill. A cable car took us up to this point where we enjoyed the 360 degree view of Udaipur- The White City. The evening was spent lazing around in the room and then we went strolling around at the Ambrai Ghat at the other side of Lake Pichola and enjoyed the twilight there. Udaipur is rightly called as the City of Lakes as it has the most beautiful and scenic lakes! We ended our day 2 by dining at this restaurant called Upre- a rooftop restaurant with a breathtaking view and ambience. Loved being there!

Day 3 -
Woke up with a heavy heart as it was our last day here but also excited as it was our day of shopping!! We had our last breakfast in Udaipur and went ahead and packed our bags. I wore this comfortable green jumpsuit as it was going to be a day of shopping and travel back home. We then checked out of our hotel and visited the neighboring Bagore Ki Haveli and went ahead to shop. Got some old school bags & chunky silver jewellery! Tired from all the bargaining and checking out each and every shop, we were really hungry and went back to the café O-zen for lunch! That concluded our trip in Udaipur as we then left for the airport.
After such an amazing weekend, we left the place with so many memories. Though I was working from there, everything was still so relaxed & easy. Sometimes all you want to do is travel & experience life in a way that you are so grateful and happy being there. This was just that, with all good vibes & energy!
Hoping to have many more such trips with my lovely people! This is just the beginning ;)
Have an amazing day Xx
